Jasmin Fisher, a senior researcher with Microsoft, says she thinks of finding a cure for cancer like computer scientists think about computer programs. She says that her goal is to understand the behaviour of the cell by understanding
its set of programs which it to behave in a certain way. “If you can figure out how to build these programs, and then you can debug them, it’s a solved problem,” she said. “Then cancer is just a chronic disease that can be managed.”
Microsoft, in a blog post, says that it will use computer science to help fight against cancer. At Microsoft, a small team of researchers is using machine learning and natural language processing to help oncologists figure out the most “effective and individualized cancer treatment”.
